How To Make Your Web Site Mobile Optimized
On the following post I’m going to show you fast & easy way that I’m using to make my sites mobile optimized.
These days the traffic from mobile phones is increasing, more and more peoples own smartphones with very good internet capabilities, and access the web from their mobile devices.
The Main problem: Mobile devices have a different screen layout than desktops. Sites that looks great from your desktop, look not so well from mobile device with lower resolution and small screen. I’m sure that if you surf from your mobile device to site that is not mobile optimize and need to scroll from side to side in order to see the content, you usually leave this site quickly because the user experience is bad.
As you already know, I’m a real fan of WordPress, all my sites build on WordPress.
When using WordPress as your platform, it’s easy to make your content mobile optimized.
There is simple Solution that makes it easy to optimize your web to mobile devices – it calls WPtouch, a WordPress Plug in that automatically optimizes your WordPress site. WPtouch support the popular touch based smartphones like: iPhone, iPod touch, Android, Palm and BlackBerry Storm.
All you need to do is to install the plug in (if you are familiar with WordPress you probably know that installing plug in it’s a simple process that take less than a min) and your site is mobile optimized!!!
After installing the WPtouch plug in you will see the WPtouch admin panel under your WordPress dashboard. Using this admin panel, you can easily control and customize WPtouch plug in.
So, basically with the WPtouch plug in, visitor that visits the site from mobile device will see different page layout than visitor from desktop.
Tip – One of the coolest options in the plug in is the ability to set different ads for visitors from mobile devices. It’s important to put ads that have mobile optimized landing page (according to my experience when visitor from mobile device click on ads that have regular landing page – you get poor conversion rate)

Below you can see my blog from iPhone. as you can see the layout is different and the ads are also different (you can see the ads on top, and there are also ads on the bottom):
Summary: It’s a waste to lose the increasing traffic from mobile devices because your web site / blog isn’t mobile optimized. WPtouch is a perfect solution to make you web site mobile optimized. I encourage you to access my blog from your desktop and than from iphone, and see the difference (it took me few min to configure this).
